Chelsea have dismissed as "totally untrue" reports that they have tabled a world transfer record offer of £73.5 million for Milan superstar Kaka.
Kaka has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid as well as the Blues but Chelsea, who have just appointed former Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager, insisted that they have not tabled any offer for the Brazilian.
A statement on the club's official website read: "We have never made an offer to AC Milan for Kaka and therefore not one at this extraordinary level."
The statement continued: "As a consequence we have not discussed a salary with the player either.
"Any reports to the contrary are totally untrue."
A potential move to Manchester City collapsed in January and Kaka has repeatedly insisted that he wants to stay at the San Siro.
On Tuesday night Milan denied general manager Adriano Galliani was negotiating his sale to Real Madrid for a quoted fee of £56m and Kaka told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I'll say it for the last time. The last time. I don't want to leave Milan.
"In this period I prefer to remain silent because I don't want to be misunderstood. Or, worse still, to be used.
"To the millions of Milan supporters, I say that I have made my choice. I have said what I want to stay. Leave me in peace, please."

it will be nice if he moves to blues and experience world class football.
Chelsea has denied offering Kaka such an amount cos the deal was turned down...if it has gone through...would they ve denied it? Smart dude {R. Abramovic}
i wan't kaka to move to chelsea,it would be nice to see him in the
champions league plus it is a world record bid
No player is worth 70 odd MILLION
Having Kaka would be great but I think we could get 2 or 3 players for that much that would strenthen the team far better
ALREET BYES A GOT A WEE BAT A KAP. FAVE HOORS TAY BE PRASCEESE.
So, Chelsea have bid £73.5m for Kaka. Why don't they just pay another £6.5m and buy Newcastle United? Alot more KAKA for your money!
I was driving home yesterday, and this guy stopped me and asked, "Where's Newcastle?" So I told him, "In the Championship where they belong, way below Sunderland!"
the best kaka can do is to move and play with the superstar ribery for bayern munich
the will take the cl cup with their new fantasic team. cheers

If Mr Abramovich really means that he is not bidding for Kaka, or considering doing so ... Good! Spread some of that money around, training kids for the game (who show promise and enthusiasm) Worldwide, and that includes The UK, who are as strapped as anyone in 'The First World' league. And identify a connection with giving all those youngsters in Africa a boost on the pitch. Maybe only an old, plastic ball (and thats a luxury), kicking around in the dust, but if the talent and the enthusiasm is there, lets help them a bit more to enjoy life, and grace The Game down the road, if thats what they aspire to. As for Chelsea, as The Yanks say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Try working with what you've got! It's not bad.
Teenager Chris Wood has won over an influential new admirer after coping admirably when debuting at international level for the New Zealand soccer team.
The 17-year-old West Bromwich Albion striker was given his first cap for a "friendly" against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam yesterday (NZT) by All Whites coach Ricki Herbert.
New Zealand lost 1-2, with their lone goal coming via a Shane Smeltz penalty, but Wood left a lasting impression on Herbert. Killers were Jerryson Tegete and Mwinyi Kazimoto

The All Whites have been beaten 2-1 by Tanzania in a Confederations Cup warmup match in dar es Salaam.
Shane Smeltz scored an early penalty and they held their lead until 10 minutes after the break... the locals scored the winner in the 89th minute to deny the All Whites a first win on African soil.
New Zealand coach Ricki Herbert handed 17-year-old striker Chris Wood his first international cap, while Tim Brown and Tony Lochhead had both sufficiently recovered from stomach bugs to take their place in the starting line-up for the first of three friendlies before the FIFA Confederations Cup begins.
They next play Botswana.
