Japan's "Brave Blossoms" will tackle Super 14 side Queensland Reds in Brisbane next week in a warm-up for the Pacific Nations Cup and junior world championship.
The Japan Rugby Football Union said that the team will play the game at Ballymore on June 10.
"We needed a game outside of Japan," Japan coach John Kirwan said in a statement. "We need to get tested defensively."
Kirwan's side are in Australia for a 10-day training camp ahead of the five-team Pacific Nations Cup which kicks off on June 12. All of Japan's games are away.
Japan, a strong contender to host the 2015 rugby World Cup, stages the junior world championship from June 6-22.
