Manchester City are among the clubs rumoured to be chasing Lucas Neill's signature after the Australia defender opted to leave West Ham.
The Hammers made a "significant offer" to the out-of-contract full-back, 31, who was keen to secure a 12-month deal in order to take him up to next summer's World Cup in South Africa.
However, Neill, who controversially turned down an offer from Liverpool to join the London club in January 2007, rejected their proposal in order to pursue "other opportunities", according to West Ham's website.
Joining the former Blackburn player through the Upton Park exit are Diego Tristan, Lee Bowyer, Walter Lopez, Kyel Reid, Tony Stokes and Jimmy Walker.
In addition, the loans of Jan Lastuvka, Radoslav Kovac and David Di Michele have ended and will not be renewed.
Coming the other way are Calum Davenport and Julien Faubert, whose respective loan spells at Sunderland and Real Madrid have ended.

The hammers need a solid right back and a striker, hopefully Luca Toni will fill that spot...Mathew Upson will be playing for the hammers this season....COYI, we're moving in the right direction, thank god curbishleys gone!
Why has Darren Bent lost it? He was the dog's boll........ three years back, could Zola work wonders on him. Curbs had a lot of belief in this guy, he made a big, big mistake going to Spurs where the manager never rated him.
Result - Neil is over-rated and over paid would love to see Huddleston at West Ham if Spurs are keen to sell
I think we are silly not to make Radoslav Kovac and David Di Michele's contracts permanent. Yes, they aren't the worlds best players but they did their job well whilst playing for us so why not keep them.
Another thing. Lets get rid of our chairman and get a new one with lots of money to invest in bringing more big names to Upton Park, after all, we deserve it. Especially now that we have Zola at the helm, he has some great contacts so could persuade other players to play for him, after all, who wouldn't want to play for one of the best plaers the world has ever seen.
We need to buy players to boost our squad, becuase as we have seen from previous seasons, we have terrible luck in terms of injury. Here is a few names that I have thought of and why.
WILLIAM GALLAS Arenal will not offer him a new contract so he would be a great signing for us and we could get him on a free transfer as well, he is better than Lucas Neill, oh and this is a message for him from me, STAY!!
DAVID BENTLEY: He has had an appauling season at Spurs so why not sign him. We could get him cheap and Zola would work wonders on him.
There is two names which I hope, if West Ham officials look at this, could take into consideration.
Would love to hear from anyone who has anyother ideas on who we could buy. I can't think of one as yet but we do need a 2nd keeper as Robert Green is the only one we have at the moment. Maybe Scott Carson or Craig Gordon, but I don't know would love to hear from you all.
Just had a look at the Hammers home page at the squad for 2009/2010 no mention of Mathew Upson leaving or staying. Anyone any ideas?
YES !!!!!!!!!!! No it all neil has gone ... best news all year, hope he goes to City ... lol :D
