Owls can be surprise package - Laws

Brian Laws wants Sheffield Wednesday to emulate Burnley by becoming the Championship's "dark horses" for promotion next season.

The Owls manager revealed he is already excited about the 2009/10 campaign and believes Wednesday could improve on last season's 12th-placed finish.

Laws said: "The teams coming down will be favourites to go back up because of the financial resources they have. However, there is no guarantee, as we have seen this season.

"Look at Burnley - they were dark horses. It just shows what can be done. We want to be the dark horses next season."

Laws added: "The strength of the division is going to be exciting. I can't wait for the Geordies to come down here. I can't wait to go up there and take points off them as well.

"In May and June, I'm excited by it all. Hand on heart, it's the first time I have known that for quite a while. If I feel like that now, God knows how I'm going to feel at the start of the season."

You should have seen their performance at Wembley,­ should have been at least 4-0 to Burnley, after all­ Kevs shouting and screaming on the lines he got­ nowhere, made himself and the club look stupid.­ C'mon you Owls boys you can do it, Burnley did it,­ see you Owls in the Premiership next time.

  5. chris h, just another bitter/jelous blade.. lots more­ going on this side of the pond isnt ther my friend...­ utd will be luck to finnish on top half next season...­ lots more bigger fish in this league now.. and with­ what super strafford is doing i feel we can now once­ again count ourselves as a big club again..
