Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has claimed the club have been pipped to the signing of West Ham striker Freddie Sears by Sheffield Wednesday.
Fry held talks with the Premier League side about bringing the 19-year-old to London Road on loan but insists the Hammers favoured a more lucrative offer from the Owls.
Fry told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "The lad came down to London Road with his dad and liked what Darren Ferguson had to say.
"He made it clear he was keen to come here, but West Ham have blocked the move and told him he has to go to Sheffield Wednesday.
"It is a big disappointment because Freddie would have provided some hot competition for Craig Mackail-Smith and Aaron Mclean, but there was obviously more money involved with Wednesday."

as a sheffield wednesday fan, i was very please with the owls attackive force last season, especially as we did the double over sheff u for the first time in over 90 years, however freddie sears will be aweasome for us this season will definately have a massive impact on our squad and definately score a hat full of goals, looing forward to see him down at hillsborough, up the owls!

Freddie will smash the championshoi next season for Sheff Wed. No coincidence that we sent him to Sheff Utd's biggest rivals. He scored on his debut for the hammers but has had brief appearances from the subs bench since. He has an amazing record in the reserves and will do Sheff Wed proud...Especially in the Sheffield derby I hope!
Freddie sears will be a quality signing for wednesday, hopefully he will bang a few past sheff utd! west ham till i die
To the empty heads saying who is he....I remember empties saying the same when the hammers sent defoe out on loan to Bournemouth, yeah who is he ?
It works sometimes (if you know anything about football)
West Ham , have a lot of good youth team players, and he is one of them.. the West Ham youth teams, have a great record of finding players, who have gone on to be top class in the Premier League.. How good is he ?? well thats why they send them on loan , to develope and see !
If he comes to the Owls we have to trust Laws knows he is ok, and can do a job, the problem is .. if he realy is good, he will go back to West Ham and we will be short a player next season ..
never heard of him. did he ever get any playing time?
Who the hell is he ??????????????????????
