Millers preparing striker bid

Rotherham manager Steve Evans is planning a bid for an unnamed "talented" international striker.

The Millers have already brought in Daniel Nardiello and Kayode Odejayi this summer, but lost Lewis Grabban to Bournemouth late last week.

And Evans wants to use that money from Grabban's sale, reported to be around £300,000, to bring a young replacement to the New York Stadium.

"I have a meeting scheduled with the chairman for Wednesday and we will discuss what amount we can bid for a talented young striker," Evans said. "The chairman has made it clear that funds are available but it is not a bottomless pit.

"The lad in question has only played a small part for his club's first team but I watched him recently score for his country too.

"This will purely depend on whether the big club he is at will sell him and secondly would he want to come, but I hope the lure of first-team football now will help."
