Rochdale manager Keith Hill admits he is not surprised that influential midfielder David Perkins is being linked with rival clubs.Perkins emerged as one of the best midfielders in League Two last season after an outstanding campaign which saw him help Dale to reach the play-off final.

The 26-year-old attracted admiring glances from several clubs and is entering the final year of his contract at Spotland.

"He is an awesome player and it does not surprise me that he has been attracting the attention of other clubs," said Hill.

"He has had a lot of time to catch up on and I know him very well and he is very ambitious.

"At this moment in time he is a Rochdale player and unless that changes he is training with us."
