Hartlepool have beaten competition from Swindon and Hearts to complete the signing of midfielder Ritchie Jones on a free transfer.The 21-year-old was released by Premier League champions Manchester United at the end of last season and has been linked with clubs both north and south of the border, but has opted to join Pools.

Jones had previously had spells on loan at Yeovil, Barnsley and Colchester as well as appearing five times in United's first team.

Swindon boss Maurice Malpas is now expected to turn his attention to securing a deal for Peterborough's Josh Low.
