Sheffield United have had bids accepted for Watford striker Tommy Smith and Bristol City winger Michael McIndoe.

Blades boss Kevin Blackwell has confirmed that United are now in talks with both players but admits that terms have to be agreed before they sign at Bramall Lane.

"We are in negotiations with (Smith, pictured) and his agent and the fact that our bid has been successful and we can talk to him is a good stage to be at but it remains to be seen whether we can complete the deal," Blackwell to the club's website.

"We had a bid knocked back for him a while ago but we have a list of four or five quality players we are interested in."

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson claimed that McIndoe was in talks with the Blades and Blackwell has now confirmed that he has met with the former Doncaster man.

"We are still in negotiations with people in that transfer so we will have to see how it pans out, but I have met the player," he added.

"He is a good lad who I have a lot of time for, he crosses a good ball and weighs in with a few goals."
