Former Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear has been given the go-ahead to return to management.
The ex-Wimbledon boss was a surprise choice to take over from Chris Hughton at St James' Park back in September, just under four weeks after Kevin Keegan had parted ways with the north-east club.
"I've gone from bad to being much, much better than I was. I've got the all-clear," Kinnear, who underwent a triple heart bypass operation in February, told Sky Sports News. "Things are working out well for me. I feel as fit as a fiddle."
Kinnear's arrival at Newcastle brought about a small upturn in fortunes as the Magpies battled against relegation from the Premier League.
However, after suddenly falling ill before the club's trip to West Brom on February 7 he required surgery. Alan Shearer was appointed as manager for the final eight games of the season but was unable to prevent the club from being relegated to the Coca-Cola Championship on the final day.
With plenty of ownership issues to be sorted out in the boardroom at St James' Park, mystery still also surrounds who will be in the hot-seat this season with Hughton currently back in charge on a caretaker basis. Shearer remains very much in the frame, although Kinnear insists he would love to be given another chance now he has his health back once again.
"I love the game," he added. "I'm desperate to get back into it. It just depends where and when. I just hope it happens sooner (rather) than later."
The 62-year-old continued: "My contract was up at the end of the season. (Current owner) Mike (Ashley) knows I'm still available. I'm not sure how far down the road they are of selling it.
"I spoke to Mike last week. He told me he has people very much interested in it and maybe the decision for me to go back there is away from him, because obviously new owners might come in."

cameron, sorry mate, I meant you couldn't make it more plain.
cameron, you could make it more plain mate
This is futile, my entire argument is built on the cornerstone of the squad of players being hopeless, ergo BIG job! We are not as deluded as many would think; this club is in a terrible mess, it requires a massive rebuilding programme. The job is therefore too big for a man whose ideas are outdated, and has a history of heart problems; please will you show me where i said the CLUB was too big for him, or when i have failed to answer your question?
By the way, if you are questioning my education, i suggest you take it up with my current place of learning . . . . . . . . . . . . SUNDERLAND UNIVERSITY!
Which question , oh brainless one? If it's the one about school, you missed a question mark there too (or is this another typo?). Is your grammar your grandad's wife? Now, YOU refute my claims/points about your wrecked team. Cannot or will not? LOL
I see you still haven't answered my question JoJo.
Camerlot: comment 24, you missed a question mark on a non-rhetorical question. Oh, and I missed a capital letter. 15-40 to me , I think.
Camergoon: explain how mixing up 'know' and 'no' is a typo. try Mavis Beacon, you clown.
Camerot: and the other points? Got it? Good. Move on. Not in your league? Correct. YOU are in the fizzy league. WE are not. At least you're right about something. Dolt.
JokeJo:
'Are you looking forward to harassing the tennis-folk at the US Open!'
This is/was a purely rhetorical question my friend.
'A rhetorical question is a question for which no answer is expected or for which the answer is self evident. A rhetorical question can end in either a question mark, or an exclamation point or a period, depending on context and the writer's purpose.'
Go Google it - type in 'rhetorical questions'!
Got it, good, let's move on!
You are not in my league - walk on Joke's on Jo!
Cameron making new friends i see!
Cameron, get a grip eh? Way too big? Jeez, your club is a championship team without a domestic trophy in fifty four years, wihtout a clue what's happening next season, up for sale at a truly knock-down price that still seems to interest no-one and a bunch of over-rated, over-paid players who will not know how to cope with championship players who bite....way too big? Nah.
JokeJo:
behave yourself; getting all nasty just because i made you look the fool you obviously are!
Of course JOB and CLUB are different you idiot!
As you yourself have intimated, the JOB is MASSIVE (due to all the upheaval and unrest).
Is the CLUB MASSIVE too then - using your theory, it must be; but we all know it is not, ergo the 2 are very different!
Picking up on a couple of typos; that reeks of desperation you clown.
Now answer my question, you imbecile!
JokeJo: how thick you are!
Your pathetic attempt at ridiculing my club is EXACTLY the point i am trying to make!
You fool; i said the JOB wasn't too big for him, NOT the stinking little club!
Dear me, did i ever go to school.
Nufc are now a small time club, half of the fans have deflected to Sunderland, you can't blame them can you.Unfortunately the cub and fans believed they were invincible. Now we have to eat humble pie,One lousey goal that's all,we should petition the FA and get the Aston Villa game Reversed in our Favour,we as a big club deserve that much.
wish you well JOE,hope you get the job at NUFC.You are the only one with any proper credentials.Of course they would all like SAF to be manager.Shearer is 8to 1 loser.Who else would even contemplate such a thought. You are indeed brave, bit like the lions den.If i were you i would steer well clear of this trash.
By the way, Cameclotx2 . Comment 17: 'I know you mean NO (not know) malice, and 'Are you looking...' is a question, so it needs a QUESTION MARK. (?) So does 'doesn't he'.
Which 'skool' did you go to?
Cameclot: did I go to school? At least I know that you need a capital letter when using the personal pronoun and that a semi-colon separates items in a list or replaces a connective. What 'skule' did YOU go to? As for your use of the word 'pathetic': refute any of my points, if you can. What exactly do you mean, the JOB not the CLUB? Are they different then? How? Maybe managing a HUGE club like Man U would be a SMALL job. Or maybe managing a SMALL club like Bury would be a HUGE job. Maybe. Try a class in semantics. Dolt.
ting tong.....idiot.
who's this... well eh eh eh i'd eh like to see some eh eh silver ware this season like eh ... it wor 1 win Alan...ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!
No probs Colin; i know you mean know malice mate - har, har, har!
Are you looking forward to harassing the tennis-folk at the US Open!
Loved your wind-ups!
AJ loves you doesn't he - 'That Colin is just vile, vile, vile' - classic mate, har, har, har!
JokeJo: how thick you are!
Your pathetic attempt at ridiculing my club is EXACTLY the point i am trying to make!
You fool; i said the JOB was too big for him, NOT the club!
Dear me, did you ever go to school . . . doh!
