La Liga - Perez: We need two more signings

Real Madrid need to sign two more players and off-load about 10 to round off their summer transfer dealings, club president Florentino Perez has said.

The nine-times European champions have already splashed around 215 million euros (£185m) on bringing striker Karim Benzema, winger Cristiano Ronaldo, playmaker Kaka and defender Raul Albiol to the Bernabeu.

"Now we need to calm down a little because squads usually have around 25 players and ours now has some 35," Perez told Spanish television station Cuatro.

"We need to concentrate our efforts on convincing some players that they will have to leave. It should not be forgotten there is a World Cup next summer and all our players want to play in it.

"If players aren't going to have the chance to participate here they'll want to do it somewhere else, to be able to make it to the World Cup.

"As to new signings, I think with two more we would have sufficient."

Perez was asked about Real's interest in Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery and Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

"They are both great players but their clubs don't want to sell them, though in the world of football situations can change," he added.

Real have already sold Javier Saviola, and the Dutch contingent of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Royston Drenthe and Klaas Jan Huntelaar are all reportedly on the market.

  3. IM A HUGE FAN OF REAL...BUT what real really need now­ is to sell heinze, drenthe, guti, salgado,­ nistelroy!!!!!! 5 of them better leave!!!! They are­ thrash n no good for real...no need to buy alonso­ because there are Gago n Lass for defensive­ midfielder...and real should not sell van der vaart,­ sneijder, robben and huntelaar because they are can be­ backup for ronaldo, kaka, ribery and benzema if they­ are injured.

    real will be superb­ if they use this formation and these players...trust­ me!!!!

    chelsea is joke they have only­ captain terry as home grown

Football is business,­ and Madrid is looking to ATTACK both sides of the­ equation by fielding a team capable of challenging on­ all fronts as well as reap financial rewards from­ boasting the top talent on the planet. These are young­ players, hungry to make a name for themselves as the­ whole world watches. Do you not think that is enough­ incentives for ego's to be shelved, at least in the­ short term? Additionally, All teams buy players, some­ have smaller budgets than others, and we have the­ largest. Deal with it. It doesn't guarantee­ success, but it'll be fun to watch, which is the­ point. Entertainment. Clubs that claim to be just a­ club, I find to be dishonest, really. Your a business,­ the players aren't playing for free. The supporters­ pay to watch, why not maximize that profit? They­ spend a ton of money and have a tendency to let down­ their supporters due to having too many egos on one­ pitch. To Getachew44, the sad part that you obviously­ fail to realize is that after this transfer season not­ even the Bernabéu is big enough to hold Ronaldo's­ now ever inflated ego. He will poison your ranks and­ your team will loose the league to Barca for sure this­ coming year.

    How could your team not win the league­ with the likes of Saviola, Ruud, Robben, Sneijder and­ company. Real Madrid is a @#$% Marketing Powerhouse,­ NOT A FOOTBALL CLUB.     we­ are madridista, we are record holders with 9 times­ champions league winner
