British and Irish Lions lock Simon Shaw has been cited for alleged dangerous play during the third Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.
England forward Shaw has been summoned to attend a disciplinary hearing on Sunday morning.
He must answer a charge of striking with the knee on Springboks scrum-half Fourie du Preez (pictured) during the Lions' 28-9 victory.
Shaw was sin-binned for the offence, but New Zealand citing officer Steve Hinds has decided the incident warrants closer scrutiny.
Shaw is the second Lions player to be cited on their 10-match South Africa tour, following Scotland forward Nathan Hines who received a one-week ban for a dangerous tackle during the 13-13 draw against the Emerging Springboks in Cape Town 11 days ago.
If found guilty, Wasps lock Shaw could miss the opening games of next season's Guinness Premiership campaign.

ai,you redneck inbred brits. Your nation is sad, fanantic in every way in all areas of life especially sports.sadly you dont excel in any of them. talk talk talk talk talk talk talk..all you do..
saffas - you should beat the lions 3-0 everytime like the true masters of the game, the kiwis, did. You are playing at home in 3 tests against a side that has never played together before. The fact you not only lost one test and came close to losing the other two perhaps shows you are not quite as good as you think you are.
Cannot wait to read your comments after the ashes. Or worldcup. Or any other sports event.
Seriously, you Brits should stick to games you are good at like, mmm, like, mmm. True what one of the girls said, just look at the record books, who won the series?
what a joke bout shaw,,, big guy dropping to ground jus clumsy nothing else,,, shalk burger should have been banned for life, would have been locked up for that on the streets,,, south africa love playing dirty and trying to pick fights shame really as there not a bad side really

IRB have given him a two week ban! What idiots decide these bans! have they ever played rugby or any other sport for that matter! When your going flat out you cant just STOP immediatly when some falls in front of you. Shaw is 6 ft 8 almost 20 stone, going flat out, playing with such passion because after being on three lions tours, its only his 2nd test, he wants to win the ball back so much, so do you really think he is gonna stop, let du preez back up, or try win the ball, or have enough time to slow down, the guys huge, all he did was trip over him you can see in the pic above his hand is out to stop himslef falling!
Big lump is Shaw ,momentum and nothing else took him through to knee du preez, should not have recieved a yellow ,now he is going to be cited!!!! Shaw was one of Lions "players" of the tour, not bad for an old un...Heaslip was superb ,as was phillips and Flutey, Vickery showed what he was capable of with a ref who was on top of the game,,,Unlucky Lions you won 4 out the 6 halves played, unfortunately the history books will read Boks 2,Lions 1...
dnp321. "if i was schalk i would gladly accept my ban and be prod of what i did. it's not every day you get a chance to rip an irishmans eyes out!!!"
Shalk will get another chance in november mate (unless of course he loses out to Brussow), and after watching this lions tour, we cant wait to meet ye in croke park.
dnp321 - you tiny minded wombat. My guess is that even the SA XV would kick your @#$% for that comment - before any irishman could even get to you. Don't embarras your countrymen anymore with stupid comments like that.
dnp321, you sound like a clever fellah... Tell me something, did it take you long to find another job? And how long did you manage to keep that one?
I have watched super slow replays and I saw Shaw trip over a blade of grass, causing him to hurtle forward both knees first into the back of Du Preez. It is not his fault, in fact I think we should be blaming Du Preez for deliberately falling down in front of a Lion.
sa knew they couldnt beat the lions fairly so resorted to dirty tactics to take players out and the officials let them get away with it...:(
dnp321, you are talking tough on a website. i dare you to approach any Irish man and come out with that same stupid comment. would see how much of a big man you are then.
Shaw's a big guy and it seemed that mometum had some part to play, but I don't think he was trying too hard to avoid the hit :P I think they are taking theses citings too far, in an attempt to make it seem like they are taking acton after the gouging event. No need to try and cover up the fact that Rugby is a high-contact sport, Shaw got his yellow card so they could just leave it like that.
What rubbish, Simon Shaw is a big guy and it was obviously and accidental kneeing, anyway it was nothing compared to what the SA's Africans tried to hand out to the Lions. No way should he have a ban and how pathetic of the SA's to wear their silly armbands. Great to give them a good hiding. Oh and by the way the Lions scored more trys in the test matches.
Not the first time for Mr Shaw in drug thug captain Dallaglios England teas to OZ & NZ
He was red and yellow carde in two of the three 50 point thrashings they suffered!I think the red was also for kneeeing an opponent in the face? Against Oz
don't suppose kneeing will cause so much hysteria as gouging tho the results are much the same!
The way the two tough guys from South Africa were pulling Martin Willams about maybe someone should look at these two bullying cowards and the pulling about of players from behind by the SA players bloody cowards,@#$% nation.
This was hard luck on shaw. He did make contact with his knee first, but du preez went down in front of him and there wasnt a lot he could do to avoid him. Also He seemed to be slowing down before the impact so hardly malicious. thats how it looked on the replay anyway but time will tell.
Maybe the IRB feel that needlesly citing Shaw will make up for needlesly citing Botha.
Shaw: Dirty @#$%! What a cheat! Shouldn't be allowed to play ever again! Sorry, got all carried away, must have been from reading all the Lions supporters comments about Schalk Burger.
