Andy Triggs-Hodge and Peter Reed have crashed out of the Silver Goblets at Henley Royal Regatta, again losing to New Zealand duo Eric Murray and Hamish Bond.
The British duo captured gold at the season's first World Cup in Banyoles, Barcelona, but were beaten by the Kiwi duo at the second in Munich.
And having been drawn against each other in the semi finals at Henley, it was Bond and Murray who came out victorious once more, easing home two-and-a-half lengths ahead of the Brits.
It will come as another blow to Triggs-Hodge (pictured) and Reed, who are racing together in a pair for the first time this season, having been members of the gold medal winning men's four in Beijing.
In the Diamond Challenge sculls there was better news for Great Britain's Olympians as Alan Campbell overcame Beijing gold medallist Olaf Tufte of Norway by two lengths.
Campbell was struck down with a virus shortly before heading to the Olympics last year as he struggled home in fifth, but he has now set up a final clash with three-time world champion Mahe Drysdale of New Zealand.
Drysdale was also victorious in his last four race against Tim Maeyens of Belgium, comfortably coming home three-and-a-quarter lengths in front.
