Howe deal in jeopardy

Lincoln appear to have been priced out of a move for Rene Howe after Peterborough chairman Barry Fry insisted on receiving £150,000 for the striker.

Imps' manager Peter Jackson has already held talks with the 25-year-old, however, with Lincoln unable to match Fry's valuation, the only hope of the frontman joining Lincoln is for him to demand a loan move.

Fry claims another club has made an acceptable bid for the former Kettering forward and says unless Lincoln equal the sum, Howe won't be going to Sincil Bank.

"I have spoken to Peter Jackson and Steff Wright about Rene and we have thrown a few figures about," Fry told the Lincolnshire Echo.

"But the fact is someone has come in with a £150,000 bid which we have accepted and unless Lincoln can match it then I would say a move there would be unlikely.

"We want to strike a permanent deal rather than a loan and although I would like to do Lincoln a favour, business is business I'm afraid."
