Australian paceman Mitchell Johnson claimed two wickets but proved expensive as the final Ashes warm-up match with England Lions at New Road headed towards a draw.

Johnson sent back openers Stephen Moore and Joe Denly after the Lions had been set a nominal target of 445 from 60 overs by Australian skipper Ricky Ponting.

Then in the final over before tea, spinner Nathan Hauritz accounted for skipper Ian Bell to leave the Lions on 105 for three with 33 overs remaining.

Ponting wanted to have a final look at his bowling attack before the opening Test in Cardiff on Wednesday after only Brett Lee had impressed during the Lions' first innings.

Johnson conceded 11 runs in his first over but made the first breakthrough when Moore (16) went for a drive and was caught by Ponting at second slip.

Denly reeled off a series of handsome drives before Johnson struck for the second time when the Kent player, on 36, edged through to wicket-keeper Brad Haddin.

He was eventually rested after a spell of 9-2-48-2 and replaced by all-rounder Marcus North who could have a key part to play as a spinner in the Ashes if it is decided not to pick Hauritz.

Bell, who had made a golden duck in the first innings, accumulated steadily in partnership with Vikram Solanki but, after making 20 from 63 balls, Bell perished when he flicked at a Hauritz delivery and fell to a smart catch at short leg by Simon Katich.

It was only Hauritz's second victim of the tour after match figures of one for 158 against Sussex at Hove and nought for 80 in the first innings against the Lions.

North put scores of one, 11 and one in his previous three innings behind him in reaching 191 not out off 281 deliveries with 23 fours and one six and Hussey followed up his first-innings hundred - his first in nine months - by making an unbeaten 62 before retiring hurt.
