Confidence high in County camp

Mon 04 Aug, 05:30 PM

Jim Gannon insists Stockport's draw against Manchester City provided further evidence of his side's commitment to playing attractive football.Anthony Pilkington and Peter Thompson scored for County, while Valeri Bojinov and Ched Evans found the net for the Barclays Premier League outfit at Edgeley Park.

Gannon saw enough to believe his men are ready to compete strongly in League One this season following their promotion last term.

"I was very pleased with the way the lads acquitted themselves not just against 11 top-class players but 17 in all during the game as City tried to freshen things up," said Gannon.

"We showed that we have flexibility and adaptability within the squad and there were great signs that we can play good football against good teams.

"I think the fans will see some fine football and see us get stronger as the campaign goes on."
