Mon 04 Aug, 10:45 AM

West Ham have completed the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Jan Lastuvka on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal. The Hammers also have the option to make the deal for the 26-year-old permanent at the end of the campaign.

Lastuvka will now begin training with West Ham goalkeeping coach Ludek Miklosko, but he does not expect to play a part in Monday's friendly at Ipswich.

"On Monday I have a light training with him (Ludek Miklosko)," Lastuvka told CTK. "The team play a friendly match but I will not play in it.

"I hope that I will get into good shape overall and will be as helpful to the team as possible. So far I have had only good feelings."

The one-time Czech Republic international also had offers from Sparta Prague, Salzburg and Banik Ostrava during this summer.

Lastuvka has already had one spell in England with Fulham, although he was unable to secure regular football ahead of Antti Niemi.
