Mourinho hits back at Ranieri

Mon 04 Aug, 09:45 PM

Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho believes his Juventus counterpart Claudio Ranieri is too old to ever develop a winning mentality. The Portuguese coach's comments were given in response to claims made by Ranieri on Sunday, who took a sly dig at the man who replaced him at Chelsea by claiming he needed to win to be assured of himself.

Mourinho, speaking to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, said Ranieri was right.

"I'm in Italy to work, not to get involved in a war of words," he said.

"I want to do well with Inter, the best thing for us would be to forget about what other people are doing.

"Ranieri? He's right in what he says: I am very demanding of myself and I need to win to be secure about things. That's why I've won so many trophies in my career.

"He, on the other hand, has the mentality of someone who doesn't need to win and at nearly 70 years old he has won a Supercoppa and another small cup.

"He's too old to change his mindset."

Despite Mourinho's comments, it was 56-year-old Ranieri who came out on top when the two coaches met in the TIM Cup recently, with Juve running out 1-0 winners over Inter.

  2. Mourinho will bring bitterness to Italy like he did in England. As per Inter, they will regret sacking a very good and successful coach for a winging crying and dirty one.

  4. Mourinho was a welcome addition to the prem when he joined chelsea, and I was sad to see him go as he made Man U fight tooth and nail for their title in 2006-07. I for one would love for him to be a future Man U manager, although I know that he never would. He will be great in Italy, as he was in England and in Portugal. Remember, this man has won all the major cups in every league he has been involved in, including Spain! I'm sure he will repeat this success in Italy, and good luck to him. I just hope he will return to the Prem in the future, I don't mind who with, but if it's Man U, i'll be grinning like a cheshire cat!!!

  9. i think 'special one' should be left alone to concentrate. he had so many enemies while in England cos he came and put an end to monopoly enjoyed over the years by Man U and Asernal. Hardly had he settled in Inter than he has been attacked by Ranieri.i just wisg u the very best (Mourinho). he has shown in England that what he did in portugal was not a fluk.i believe you can do same in Italy.

  10. Nezvedz,if you hate Mourinho so much to let the world know,i am quite sure you call your father an IMBECILE everyday. You lack home training, you are definately a street orchin.Mourinho is a world acclaimed achiever. All you have in your potatoe head is hatred and pupu,no love, you can't appreciate others.Oh sorry i have just been told that you have been looking for your father since you were born.If you behave well Mourinho might just adopt you let you share the same meal with his dogs.Learn to love not hate.
