Cardiff midfielder Gavin Rae insists he will not be distracted by his international ambitions with Scotland ahead of the new season.Rae was recalled to the Scotland side towards the end of last season following a two-year absence from the squad, but the 30-year-old midfielder insists the Bluebirds remain his number one priority.

He told the South Wales Echo: "It was fantastic to be back in the Scotland squad, but I have to put that to the back of my mind. I am a proud Scot and would love to play for my country again, but m.

"The minimum aim is to be challenging for a play-off spot. We've worked hard through pre-season and there is a lot of graft ahead, but we are prepared for that.

"The set-up at Cardiff is spot on with the training facilities at the Vale of Glamorgan, while I can't wait for the new stadium.

"It would be a dream if we could earn promotion and move into the new stadium as a Premiership club. There is, though, a long way to go before we can achieve that."
