Twice Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso said he will decide his future shortly but dismissed media reports that he will make an announcement next week.
"I will decide very soon on what I will do next year and what possibilities there are but there is not a fixed day," Renault driver Alonso said before Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix.
Alonso, 27, has been linked with moves to Ferrari and Honda despite having a year left on his current contract.
He said reports that he would disclose his intentions in Monza next week were incorrect.
"No, I will not be making an announcement in Monza. It is not true," Alonso said.
Last month Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo dismissed speculation that Alonso was joining his team and said world champion Kimi Raikonen and Felipe Massa would both be staying for at least another year.
Alonso, world champion in 2005 and 2006, lies eighth in the drivers' championship.
The Spaniard finished third at Spa last season and second in 2005 and believes he is capable of repeating his Formula 3000 victory from eight years ago at his favourite track.
"It was my first win in Formula 3000 and it probably kick-started my career," Alonso said.
"This is the most complete circuit and my favourite circuit. If we can gets things right, then I know I am capable of a good result here."

well --22---jay ---- can we help remove that stone from your eye darling
I don't know about anybody else but i can see Alonso in BMW next year........
Alonso can't team up with Massa, even though i cant stand him Massa is quick and just as quick as FA, Alonso will throw his toys out of the pram again. he needs a @#$% team mate to make him self indispensable. He's a big kid who can't take the heat.
ħħħħħħħħ§§§§§§ NEVER MIND WHAT ALONSO IS PROVOKED INTO SAYING
JUST GIVE HIM THE SEAT------ IN THE WINNING ----- FASTEST---FINE --- CAR & TEAM
THE FINEST DELIVERY BOY ON THE GRID ------ ALONSO------- should have his pick of cars every time
Alonso should buy himself a wheel barrow and learn to cut the grass,
Renault should sign Senna and leave Alonso on his arse :-)
My understanding was that Alonso is thinking of leaving Renault because he wants to drive a car that has the potential of winning the championship. Now how many people believe that Honda will be a championship contender next year. If he moves to Honda then it will only be a cash grab, just like Barricalo did with his move to Honda. And Ferrari won't be hiring anybody next year as Kimi will be there with Massa. Alonso should stay with Renault and help them with the new car development. Renault have built championship cars before and can do it again. He should also be thankful to Renault as they bailed him out of the mess that he was in with McLaren last year.
SFD Ferrari is spelled with an 'e'
@#$% Alonso that spanish/Nazi @#$%
i think fernado should go to ferrair this year
People, Remember, Alonso BURNED Farrari, before in a contract deal. He WILL NOT be invited back there. I will bet a Bazillion dollars on that! Farrari will not hire a guy that stabbed them in the back before. The would look like idiots and they are not that!
BMW should sign Alonso, it will be a great season next year if that happens. Ferrari, Mclaren, and BMW going at each other for the title..
For some reason, I thought Honda had made a solid deal with FA for next year. As for Ferrari, Alonso would be good, Vettel would be better, but Kubica would be really great, however, my money says BMW signs him to a big, fat, multi-year contract and very soon.
Yeah, Kubicais an amazing driver, he would probably win many races given a Ferrari.
Kubica would be good also.
In long-term sucess, I think picking anyone other than Vettel would be stupid, he is very talented to say in the least and is a future star for sure.
Good point. I was thinking more in terms of long-term success. Alonso would probably win the title in a Ferrari.
