Exeter manager Paul Tisdale praised the character of his side after they fought back from a goal down to record a 3-1 victory over Hartlepool.
A mix-up between Exeter goalkeeper Oscar Jansson and defender Matt Taylor led to Denis Behan putting the away side in front midway through the first half, but Ryan Harley levelled for the Grecians after Marcus Stewart's shot had come back off the upright.
Stuart Fleetwood capitalised on Gary Liddle's error to put Exeter 2-1 in front before James Dunne wrapped up the win with a 25-yard thunderbolt - his first goal in professional football.
"I'm very happy. It's our business and we have had a good day," Tisdale said. "On the whole, we were quite tight with our play and we managed to force a victory which overall I think we have deserved.
"It would have been easy to berate the players for the mistake we made for their first goal, but what's the point? Our attitude then was that we needed two goals and we managed to get a very good goal before half-time and we continued to do the same second half and score two more.
"I am very pleased that the players kept faith and didn't lose too much confidence after that poor first goal."
