BSB - Brookes yet to decide on future

Eurosport - Mon, 02 Nov 11:06:00 2009

Josh Brookes is yet to decide whether his future is in British Superbikes or World Superbikes as he considers offers from both series for the 2010 season.

2009 BSB HM Plant Honda Josh Brookes - 0

Brookes, who raced on the global stage for three years, switched to the BSB Championship with HM Plant Honda in 2009. The Australian finished fourth in the overall standings, despite missing three events and failing to win a race.

Nonetheless, having stood on the podium on 10 occasions, Brookes says he has courted a significant amount of interest from teams, both on the national and international scene.

However, he is also keen to wait for HM Plant Honda's decision on him, stating he would be keen to remain in BSB with the factory team.

"Everyone is thinking about 2010 but at the moment everyone is in the same position; it is just a waiting game," he told the BSB website. "I have got a few teams that have offered me something for next year but until all the budgets are in place nothing is confirmed.

"I want to see what the HM Plant Honda team are doing, as I would quite like to stay with them and with Honda UK but I also have a few other options with teams in BSB and also in Worlds."

Brookes competed in the World Superbike Championship in 2006 and 2007 with Bertocchi Kawasaki and Alto Evolution Honda before switching to the World Supersport Championship with Stiggy Honda in 2008.

  1. Why is he getting offers? He's done nowt in WSS/WSB/BSB. In BSB he had the ONLY full factory team and all he'll be remembered for is bashing Guintolli and the smash at Mallory!!!! Ok, so he had to learn the tracks but someone supposedly 'world class' it shouldn't have been such a hard job (compared to Guintoli who did brilliantly until the crash and had the added hardship of moving from prototypes to production bikes). Why have Honda Britain offered him a chance when Stuart Easton was the logical rider to sign after doing so well on the Hydrex machine who started to win and show true promise? HM PLant should have gone for Easton and Hill instead of the Aussies (even Richards doesn't cut the mustard at BSB level).

  2. IMO hes a bloody liability-the Guintoli/dodgy brake system raised some questions about his riding but the 7 rider/skittiling act perhaps confirmed that his riding abilities are not in keeping with a pro. I would like to see the back of him so the very least he should be riding in is summit on the National level(in Oz that is)

  3. Please do not join WSB - chances are you'll take out a british contender , break their leg and ruin their season !
