Defender Steven Taylor will return to the Newcastle squad for Saturday's home clash with Peterborough.
The 23-year-old has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury, and saw Hungarian youngster Tamas Kadar line-up alongside Fabricio Coloccini in central defence at Sheffield United on Monday evening.
Manager Chris Hughton told the club's official website: "Steven could have probably, at a push, played against Sheffield United. We chose not to risk him and that decision paid off. But he will be fine for the weekend and we look forward to welcoming him back."
He added: Taylor missed successive Championship defeats at Nottingham Forest and Scunthorpe, as well as the wins over Doncaster and the Blades which took the Magpies back to the top of the table.

Paul C comment 4. Why are you reading, or more to the point commenting if you don't care at all about Newcastle. Stick to your own page. Why waste your time writing on here.
At the end of the day we are the fans and we have every right to be annoyed. If it were happening at your club would you be as quiet as a mouse and be ok with it. No i don't think you would.
I blame the players as much as Keegan walking out again, but in a way a cant blame him. No manager would of stayed with what was happening witht he managment.
The players are meant to be professional and never really showed it. They were only in it for the money. Last match of the season i don't blame shearer for the relegation. Not one of them over priced monkeys even looked bothered on the day. Even Shearer couldn't believe what he was watching
Paul C: Quote: "I'll be honest, I don`t give two shades about Newcastle or the current plight you find yourself in." Unquote.
So why bother with your stupid drivel. Stupid boy.
paul you are wrong the rot set in when fat ar.se freddy sacked sir bobby. and replaced him with souness
It won't make a difference if ye boycott the catering facilities, Fat cat Ashley will just eat all the food himself;-), and probably drink the bars dry! Anyway this article was about Stephen Taylor, cracking player, great 2 have him back!
I'll be honest, I don;t give two shades about Newcastle or the current plight you find yourself in, as for boycotting Sports Direct, get a life mate, they offer what 85% of Newcastle layabouts are wearing in trackie bottoms and YSL tops. I think you need to get real and stop blaming your owner for your teams shearer and keegans (Shock, horror I used there names in vain) induced current plight.
Blame Ashley as much as you want but it was started by Keegan
To change anything about St James is a crime. Wor Jacky will be spinning along with Joe Harvey. Leave the name alone. (Salisbury Magpie)
IT'LL BE GOOD TO HAVE HIM BACK. ALONG WITH ALAN SMITH, IT'S TAYLOR THAT MAKES THE WORK.
I wonder how many thousands of toon fans will show their support for the Ashley regime, by buying beer, pop, pies and burgers etc for themselves and their kids at this weekends game. PLEASE. BOYCOTT EVERY REVENUE STREAM AVAILABLE TO ASHLEY. STAY AWAY FROM THE GROUNDS CATERING OUTLETS AND BARS. BOYCOTT THE CLUB SHOP. AND YOU PEOPLE THAT BUY YOUR GEAR FROM SPORTS DIRECT SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.
STAY AT YOUR SEATS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME AND AT HALF TIME, AT EVERY HOME GAME, UNTIL HE EITHER STARTS TO SHOW US SOME RESPECT ( NEVER ), OR UNTIL HE LEAVES.
COME ON. SHOW SOME CLASS. BOYCOTT THE LOT. SHOW SOME SOLIDARITY AND STAY AT YOUR SEATS. WE'LL GET EVERYBODY ON OUR SIDE IF WE SHOW SOME CLASS AND STICK TOGETHER. VIVA LA TOON
Kadar did alright against Sheff U but Taylor has been missed.
