Britain's Matthew Wilson has said that he wants to try and build on what he achieved this season in the WRC.
Wilson finished 2007 on a real high with three points finishes in succession on the last three events in Japan, Ireland and Wales, after he brought his Stobart Ford Focus RS WRC car home in fourth, seventh and sixth respectively.
His target now is to keep that momentum going into the new season, which gets underway at the end of next month, with the Rallye Monte Carlo, which runs from January 25-27.
"It was good to get three points finishes on the last three rallies. It was a nice end to the year and to do it on the two home rallies in Ireland and GB made it even more special," he told Crash.net Radio.
"It is good when you get a run going and obviously you just want to keep it going. I didn't really want the season to end!
"Hopefully next year can be even better. There is going to be some new challenges - no [run-flat] mousse, a one-make tyre manufacturer and so on. It would be nice to try and drive on the Pirelli tyres before the start of the year, just to get some idea what they are like.
"Overall though I just want to build on what I did on the last three events and try and make that a regular occurrence."
In the end Wilson notched up eleven points in total, something that left him eleventh in the drivers' championship.
So was he pleased with his season overall?
"Yeah I was happy, even though we had a bad start to the year," he explained. "With all the new events there at the start, it just felt like '06 carrying on. We were hoping that we could go back to the rallies a second time and just have a bit more knowledge.
"But obviously Monte Carlo was near enough a completely new rally [due to the major route changes] and then there was Norway and Portugal too.
"I must say it was a difficult at the beginning but then we had a real good run throughout the middle of the year, with a lot of top-ten finishes - a ninth in Germany and stuff like that. From the middle part onwards it picked up and the last half was really good."
