Dave Jones insists he does have other targets in mind to boost Cardiff's promotion push after losing out on Wayne Routledge and Michael Chopra.Despite the Bluebirds' best efforts, Routledge opted for Championship rivals QPR while Chopra was deemed to be part of parent club Sunderland's plans for the future.
Jones was disappointed to lose out on the duo but was keen to stress that life moves on, and while he is aware of possible replacements, he also knows finances could prove a problem as he goes in search of the quality required to boost their ranks.
"We didn't just put our hat on Wayne signing," Jones told the Western Mail.
"The problem you've got is - will other clubs let players go? If you're going to find players of Chops' and Routledge's ability, you're more than likely going to go into the Premier League. And that means they're going to be on Premier League wages.
"I could be saying to the chairman 'let's throw money at it, let's have a go', but if it doesn't work then you're in lots of trouble. We'll be diligent and if the players are there then we'll try and sign them."
