MK Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo has played down the significance of their encounter with promotion rivals Peterborough on Tuesday night. The Dons, second in the table, take on fourth place Peterborough with the possibility of denting their opponents promotion hopes and surging to the top of League One.
But Di Matteo, who admitted his team's preparations had been disrupted by a frozen pitch, was keen to emphasise that there are only three points at stake.
He said: "We know about the history that is there between the two clubs, obviously we want to do well, it is kind of a derby for us because we are close to them so it should be an exciting game.
"But there are another 22 games so it is not like a make-or-break game but it will be three points and hopefully we can pick up something.
"I didn't know that was possible (going top)," he continued. "It was not even a thought to be honest."
