Davies: It's great to be back

Mon 05 Jan, 04:45 PM

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies admits he is glad "to be back on the training ground" after officially taking charge on Monday.Davies, who signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at the City Ground last week, is relishing his first managerial job since leaving Derby by mutual consent in November 2007 and will take charge of his first match against fellow strugglers Charlton this weekend.

He told the club's official website: "It's been really enjoyable. It has been a case of getting to know the players, putting faces to names and getting a feel of who's who which is very important.

"Myself and the staff that I've brought in are assessing many things and I think it's important we keep doing that.

"It's nice to be back. My break was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it but it's nice to be back on the training ground. It's nice to be amongst the banter again, working with young and experienced players.

"We know the objective is to pull the lads together and get the balance and blend right between experience and youth. But more importantly we need to get points on the board for Forest."
