Defender Marcus Holness has joined Blue Square Premier outfit Barrow on a one-month loan deal from League Two side Rochdale.The Oldham-born centre-back, 20, has not been a regular for Dale this season and heads to Cumbria with the blessing of boss Keith Hill.

Hill said: "Marcus needs games under his belt and Barrow have got lots of fixtures in the next few weeks.

"We are allowing him to leave for a month with a view to that being extended.

"He is 100% behind everything that we are doing here but we cannot guarantee him first-team football."
