Bristol City boss Gary Johnson is dreaming of a nostalgic reunion with his former club Histon in the FA Cup fourth round.Once a Histon player himself, Johnson still has friends at the club, having worked with current Histon assistant manager John Beck at Cambridge during the early 1990s and counts club chairman Gareth Baldwin as a friend.
Johnson would love nothing more than to welcome the Blue Square Premier outfit to Ashton Gate later this month, but City must first overcome cup holders Portsmouth in a third round replay on January 13 while Histon host Swansea on the same night after their game was postponed on Saturday due to a frozen pitch.
"I played part-time for Histon in the Eastern Counties League back in 1989," said Johnson. "I know Histon's manager Steve Fallon and their chairman. When I was at Cambridge, Gareth Baldwin - who wasn't Histon chairman at the time - actually paid our travel and hotel costs for the play-off final against Chesterfield at Wembley.
"I know a lot has to happen before the tie becomes a reality, but I would love it to happen because I still have a soft spot for Histon.
"It would be a real fairytale tie if we both make it through, and that is what the FA Cup is all about."
