Knill rues Shakers injury problems

Mon 05 Jan, 01:00 PM

Manager Alan Knill has bemoaned his side's luck after Bury picked up injuries to two key players during the 2-1 defeat at Wycombe. The Shakers rarely threatened the league leaders and only found the back of their net with an injury-time own goal at Adams' Park.

But of more concern to Knill was the withdrawal of striker Glynn Hurst after just three minutes and goalkeeper Wayne Brown at half-time.

"Glynn Hurst has come through the warm-up with no problems, but as soon as the game starts, he's gone into the corner and stretched for the ball and he's felt his calf go," Knill said.

"We did have Bish (Andy Bishop) on the bench but he's hardly trained - he struggled on Friday and I told him that he would have started if he had been fit, but he told me he wasn't fit enough to start and two minutes in he has to go on. It's not ideal.

"Wayne Brown has struggled with the thigh for around two weeks now. He went through the ball and felt it go, so it wasn't the greatest day."
