Laws keen for Wednesday to push on

Mon 05 Jan, 01:45 PM

Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws is looking to get as many points on the board as possible next month to stave off the threat of relegation. The Owls, who lie 10 points off the relegation zone in the Championship, have just the league to concentrate on after their FA Cup defeat to Fulham on Saturday.

But with their player resources stretched to the maximum due to a crippling injury list, Laws is worried that a bad run in the coming weeks could see them dragged into relegation mire.

He told the Yorkshire Post: "We are left to concentrate on the League and we have a paper-thin squad. It is an important month and we have got some big games coming up.

"I certainly don't want to be looking over my shoulder that is for sure. I tasted that last year and it's not pleasant. I want to be looking up not down."
