Leicester defender Chris Powell has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Walkers Stadium until the end of the season.The 39-year-old joined the Foxes as a free agent in August and agreed a short-term deal following a trial.

His performances in 17 league and cup games have persuaded manager Nigel Pearson to extend his stay.

Pearson said: "Chris is a very experienced older head and he has been an asset to us. He compliments our young back line very well and I am delighted that he has agreed to extend his contract."
