Derby chairman of football Adam Pearson has revealed he is looking to appoint the club's next manager within the next 10 days.Paul Jewell resigned the post last week after a turbulent 13 months in charge at Pride Park. His assistant Chris Hutchings has been placed in temporary control of first-team affairs while a successor is found.
Pearson insists he has been inundated with 'top-quality' applicants as he begins to compile his shortlist of interviewees.
"There has been an enormous amount of interest and we would like to make an appointment in the next 10 days," Pearson said.
"There has been an enormous amount of top-quality applicants ranging from all sorts of experience, from people in and out of work, young and old, and it has been interesting seeing all the names come through.
"There are some surprising names in there and it is testimony to the size of the club and also, probably, to what people perceive to be a fantastic opportunity and challenge to take the club on. The serious work starts now in channelling that down into some key names we want to proceed with."
