Steelers Extend Lead

Sheffield Steelers extended their advantage at the summit of the Elite League thanks to a 4-3 overtime victory at Coventry Blaze.

Jeff Legue scored his second overtime winner of the weekend after Blaze's Jonathan Weaver had forced overtime when he levelled the scores at 3-3 with just two minutes to go in normal time.

Sheffield now hold a seven-point lead in the standings from Nottingham Panthers, who lost 4-2 on the road at Manchester Storm.

Third-placed Belfast Giants defeated Cardiff Devils 2-1 on the road while Hull Stingrays won 4-3 against Basingstoke Bison.

Meanwhile, Newcastle Vipers progressed from their British Knockout Cup clash with Edinburgh Capitals with a shootout victory after the two sides finished tied at 6-6 after two legs.
