Los Angeles Galaxy have confirmed striker Landon Donovan will remain with Bayern Munich on a short-term deal until March 8 while the Germans also hope to sign Anatoliy Tymoschuk.

Having agreed the loan deal in November after a trial, the 26-year-old Donovan will join the Bundesliga champions immediately and will return to the USA two weeks before the MLS club begins its season.

Donovan, who started his career with Bayern's rivals Bayer Leverkusen, scored 20 goals for the Galaxy last season.

The Munich giants are joint top of the league table with Hoffenheim and resume on January 30 against Hamburg following the winter break.

Donovan has joined the Bayern squad at their mid-season training camp in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness has said he expects midfielder Tymoschuk to join the Bundesliga giants - but not just yet.

The Zenit St Petersburg captain conducted talks in Munich before Christmas but failed to reach an agreement over a January move.

But Hoeness remains confident the 29-year-old will put pen to paper at the Allianz Arena, even if he will not arrive there until the end of the season.

"Tymoschuk wants to get back to us by the end of January," Hoeness revealed to the Bild newspaper.

"It seems like he does want to join FC Bayern, but only on his terms.

"We also want him, but obviously only on our terms. I believe he will sign on with us soon."

Bayern have already been active in the January transfer window, bringing in Croatia striker Ivica Olic on a free transfer from Hamburg.

But Tymoschuk is unlikely to come so cheap, with a fee of around 15 million euros believed to be sufficient for Zenit - last year's UEFA Cup and European Super Cup winners - to part company with him.
