With the deadline for FG 2009 approaching, Eurosport-Yahoo!'s Will Tidey selects a trio of likely lads from golf's top table.

The A List is where you will find the most gifted and obscenely wealthy superstars of planet golf. These guys are the real deal, and among their number will almost certainly come the 2009 FedExCup winner.

But here is where it gets tricky. You can only have one A-Lister active in your team at any one time, and you can only use that player for a maximum 10 tournaments during the season.

Therefore, when it comes to selecting your opening A-List star the onus has to be on current form and their record - if any - at the Mercedes-Benz Championship (the first tournament of the season).

Here are my three to watch:

KJ Choi

Choi finished 2008 strongly, with top-10s at the BMW and Tour Championships, followed by a victory in the LG Skins at Thanksgiving. The South Korean has enjoyed respectable finishes at the Mercedes-Benz for the past three years and won in Hawaii last year at the Sony Open.

Jim Furyk

The American was a model of consistency in 2008, making the cut in 23 of 26 events and achieving nine top-10 finishes. Furyk's year ended with three fine performances, at the Deutsche Bank, BMW and Tour Championships, not to mention contributing 2½ points towards the United States' march to Ryder Cup glory. The 38-year-old finished tied-fifth at the Mercedes-Benz last time around, 18th in 2007 and third in 2006.

Justin Leonard

Leonard made a great start to the season in 2008, bringing home three top-10s in succession in his opening three events. These included a tied-for-eighth at the Mercedes-Benz - a tournament the American also performed well at in 2006. Leonard has not missed a cut since May and should be full of confidence after winning two of his four matches at Valhalla in the Ryder Cup.
