Valencia have insisted no agreement is in place to sell David Villa to Barcelona.
Spanish reports had claimed Barca were closing in on the in-demand Spain international.
However, Valencia insist they have no deal with Barca and say they do not have an agreement with Villa to let him leave.
"In light of recently published incorrect stories, Valencia wish to officially announce that the player David Villa and the club have made no pact, no agreement nor have they held any conversation regarding the player leaving the club," Gomez said on Valencia's official website.
"We already showed last summer that Villa is a very valuable player for us and that his performances in our team have only increased our faith in him.
"It is completely untrue that the club have agreed a deal with the player or his agent. David is happy at Valencia and we're very satisfied with his efforts and his performances.
"We find the publication of certain stories quite irresponsible and even more so when they come on the day of such an important game."
Following Sunday's win over Atletico Madrid, Villa was also quick to deny that he had an agreement in place to leave the Mestalla.
"Yes I have an agreement, but it's for six years and with Valencia, and I hope to complete this happily and then maybe even add another year," he said.
"Whoever believes me, great. Whoever doesn't can say what they like. The one who decides is me, I'm the one who has the authority over my future."

the best place for villa is REAL

what i mean is look at #1 comment, i replied to him. well, actually i'd love to see him in Barca playing in a great team that could serve him the way he deserves it, with supports from top class midfielders. this may help him improve alot. what i was trying to say is that Villa should be in Valencia right now, since Henry & Eto'o are now in a good shape & Villa might ended up on the bench until those Barca's Henry & Eto'o retired.
Definately agree with comment #6, Villa is top class player. i personally hope he would join Barca even before he joined Valencia (from Zaragoza if i'm not wrong).. but with the current Barca squad, Barca should try to pouch another David at Valencia bcoz left attcking midfielder is where Barca short-handed..

What do you mean who wants him? Every team on this planet wants such a classy player. You guy’s don’t get it. Barsa is thinking a head of everyone. We all know that Henry is about to retire from football, that one reason, the second one, isn’t better for Barcelona to get Villa or some other team such as Real or whom ever? Get David Villa, he is the top class player.
hello? who wants him anyway? what planet are you from? well, i dont think Barca needs Villa, they have another top class players & Villa will turn out to be a subtitute. i want to see him playing & stay at Mestalla. Thank god Villa made a right choice.
i think David Villa should cum2liverpool he a great striker not better den torres but he is up there
David is a great player, even Barca would like a player like him, but not right now. You can't play in the same team with Eto'o, Messi, Henry, Iniesta, Bojan and Villa. If someone is going to leave in the summer break, who knows...
Does Barca Need a new striker? I dont think so.. Barca did not need his help to go 11 points clear, and score 3goals average per game. We got Messi, Eto'o Henry, Inista, Alves, Even Yaya Toure is scoring goals these days.
Who wants him anyway?
