Coke set to make Cobblers return

Tue 05 Feb, 02:30 PM

Northampton manager Stuart Gray has been boosted with the news that Giles Coke is set for a return when Leeds visit Sixfields on Saturday. The midfielder missed the 1-1 draw at Swindon last weekend with a knee injury and, after nearly a year out with a serious knee ligament injury, there were fears that he could be set for another lengthy absence.

But after a scan on Monday the dynamic midfielder was able to return to full training with the Cobblers squad on Tuesday morning and could be set to return against Gary McAllister's men.

Gray said: "Giles had a sore knee on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning and because of that, he did not travel to Swindon with us. But over the weekend it settled down well and he had a scan on Monday.

"The good news is that the scan showed no problems and no changes and he trained strongly on Tuesday morning without any ill effects. After being out for a long time you can get soreness in the first few weeks after you have returned and we hope it was just one of those things.

"We will monitor him carefully as the week goes on with an eye on Saturday's game."
