Luton manager Mick Harford has admitted the lack of a recognised centre-back to partner Chris Perry is causing the Hatters "a major problem".Perry has had numerous partners at the heart of Luton's defence since captain Chris Coyne was sold to Colchester, with midfielder Keith Keane the latest to fill in during the 4-0 defeat at Hartlepool on Saturday.
Veteran Don Hutchison and left-back Alan Goodall have also attempted to play at the back since Coyne's departure and with the administration-saddled club unable to sign a replacement, Harford is unable to remedy the situation.
He said: "It's very difficult when you've only got one centre-half in the squad and it's a major problem for us which we can't resolve.
"We haven't got anyone who is big and strong and can attack the ball.
"Opposing teams are always going to expose that. There is a major imbalance in the squad. We have too many full-backs, too many strikers and not enough centre-halves."
