Stockport's play-off push continued at an impressive pace against struggling Bury with a thrilling 3-2 victory at Gigg Lane. The Hatters have now won six out of their last seven league games after Anthony Pilkington's brace and a Jason Taylor strike pushed them to within two points of seventh spot.
Struggling Bury have not won in the league since mid-November with new boss Alan Knill failing to grab the points in his first game in charge at Gigg Lane.
The Shakers, who came from behind to lead 2-1 through Andy Bishop and Glynn Hurst, are just two points from the drop zone.
Pilkington, the 19-year-old winger, drifted centrally at times and opened the scoring with a stunning 20-yard shot after just six minutes. Bury hit back to lead after the break but midfielder Taylor levelled with another 20-yard drive.
And Pilkington grabbed the winner when he poked home in the 58th minute after a defensive calamity that involved at least two home defenders and goalkeeper Jim Provett. Sub Adam Proudlock spurned a couple more chances to extend the lead.
