Ledley collects Championship gong

Cardiff midfielder Joe Ledley has been named Championship Player of the Month for January after netting four goals in as many league games.The 21-year-old Wales international was in terrific goal-scoring form for the Bluebirds in January.

He began the New Year in style scoring the winner against Plymouth Argyle at Ninian Park, before netting the third in his side's thrilling 3-3 draw against league leaders West Brom at The Hawthorns.

He ended the month with a brace against QPR ensuring that Cardiff begin February in the hunt for the play-off places.

Also short-listed for the January award were Robbie Blake of Burnley, Zheng Zhi of Charlton and Norwich's Dion Dublin.

Chris Kamara, chairman of the Powerade Player-of-the-Month Awards panel, said: "After a difficult season last year at Ninian Park, Joe has really started to find form and is consistently performing this season.

"He is now an established Welsh international who has been in great form in January, chipping in with four goals in as many games from midfield."
