The Football League have agreed that Brentford's late postponement of their clash at Accrington last month should have been avoided.Bees boss Andy Scott had labelled Stanley's actions as a "farce" after an estimated 900 fans travelled to the match, which was called off 90 minutes before kick-off due to a waterlogged pitch after being given the go-ahead by a Football League official at 10am.
Chief executive David Heath complained to the Football League and has received a sympathetic response.
A statement on Brentford's official website said that the response stated: "No referee likes to postpone a game at a late stage and we are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused to travelling supporters.
"I think this was a case where the match referee should have been called in overnight."
