Roeder: Loan players won't stay

Tue 05 Feb, 03:46 PM

Norwich manager Glenn Roeder has confirmed he will not be able to sign any of his latest loan acquisitions on a permanent basis.Roeder raided the loan market last week to bring defender Alex Pearce and midfielder James Henry in from Reading, as well as Arsenal's Kieran Gibbs and Matthew Bates from Middlesbrough.

Bates and Henry both made substitute appearances in the 1-0 win over Preston on Saturday and Roeder is glad to have them on board.

He said: "None of the players that are here are for sale.

"We have taken four players that are not buyable, they are all wanted back at their Premiership clubs at the end of the season - hopefully they are not called back after 28 days. A couple of them potentially that could happen with.

"I really feel those four players are going to lift the technical level that is in the squad and help us to climb into the top half of the table."
