Port Vale manager Lee Sinnott insists he is "most certainly" the man to take the club forward despite their dire position in the league. The Valiants are rooted to the bottom of League One and are nine points adrift of safety. Sinnott has guided Vale to just three wins since taking charge in November, and while he admits "radical change" is necessary, he is confident he can turn around the club's fortunes in the long term.
He told the Sentinel: "I am not a fool. I don't hide behind things and blame this, that and the other. The statistics are there for everyone to see. But it doesn't matter if I am here or someone else is here next week.
"The problems will still be the same, and those problems need radical change. Sometimes it can take time to make radical changes. You can have the right ideas but can't do it overnight. But it will get sorted out."
He added: "I don't put my head in the sand. I think the supporters and the press have been very kind to me. But let's face it, they have to be thinking something else.
"I won't sit here and think 'I have had a lovely honeymoon period here'. Long term, I am most certainly the best option, without a shadow of a doubt. But it is taking time to turn."
