Leeds United have confirmed the appointment of Steve Staunton as new manager Gary McAllister's assistant at Elland Road.
McAllister has wasted little time in naming his right-hand man after replacing former boss Dennis Wise six days ago.
Former Republic of Ireland manager Staunton will work alongside McAllister initially until the end of the season, with his arrival ending speculation that former player Gary Speed was about to return to Elland Road.
Staunton told the club's website: "I'm delighted to be here. Gary brought me to Coventry as a player, I played with him at Liverpool, and it's nice to team up again."
"I hope I can be of assistance and help this great club get back to where it belongs."
"It's a great opportunity to work at a big club with a good manager, and learn the ropes from someone else on the inside and see how a club runs."
