Olympic champion Hannah Kearney made it seven FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup wins out of seven after dual moguls victory in Utah but Sergey Volkov finally ended Mikael Kingsbury’s run.

Kearney has been untouchable in the moguls and dual moguls this season and took her sixth triumph on the trot by winning the former as proceedings kicked off in Deer Valley on Thursday.

And six became seven, as well as 14 in the World Cup in a row since January last year, two days later as Kearney beat off stiff competition from Justine Dufour-Lapointe for the fifth time this season.

Meanwhile Kearney’s American team-mate Heather McPhie got the better of Yulia Galysheva of Kazakhstan in the small final to climb the podium for the third time this season.

The World Cup rankings in the moguls follow the same pattern with Kearney leading with 700 points, Dufour-Lapointe second with 408 and McPhie third with 340.

And, while Kearney’s dominance continued, Kingsbury’s bid for a seventh straight win was ended by Russian Volkov although no real harm was done as he still took silver.

It was a double celebration for Volkov with his brother Andrey winning the small final to complete the podium with bronze – American Jeremy Cota no match for the Russian.

The result had little real effect on the men’s moguls World Cup rankings though with Kingsbury still leading with 680 points ahead of Cota and Patrick Deneen, who placed sixth in Deer Valley.
