Scunthorpe defender Cliff Byrne has stepped up his training as he edges closer to a return to action for the relegation-threatened club. The Irishman, who has endured a stop-start season due to injury and suspension, has set himself a comeback target as he recovers from his latest setback.
Byrne told the club's official website: "It's from when I had the initial leg fracture back (in November) against Stoke. Looking back I probably returned from it too quickly and it was not fully settled.
"It's just a little spot on the outside of my leg and I feel really unlucky that I've had two direct blows on it in successive matches, because prior to that I played in a few games and there were no problems."
Byrne added: "Privately I've a target and the physio has one too. Mine's quicker than his."
