Davies pleased with Blues display

Chester caretaker boss Simon Davies believes his side's performance in their 1-0 defeat to high-flying Darlington "bodes well for the future".Pawel Abbott headed in Quakers' winner in the first half shortly after Chester should have been awarded a free-kick.

Davies was furious with the decision, but could not fault the commitment of his players.

"We had a certain free-kick that wasn't given and the next thing you know they've scored. Dave Penney (Darlington's manager) and the fourth official said it was a free-kick so I was far from happy," he said.

"I can't argue at the team's performance. I think there has been a lack of togetherness at the club but not in this game.

"Every player gave his all for me and this is a difficult place to come and get a result as they are up there near the top and doing really well."
