Moore braced for hostile reception

Wed 05 Mar, 04:30 PM

Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore is preparing to ignore a torrent of abuse from the Boundary Park faithful when he returns to former club Oldham.Moore spent a year in charge of the Latics before arriving at Prenton Park in 2006 and is anticipating a hostile environment for himself and his son Ian on Saturday.

He told the club's official website: "It won't be pretty with the locals. I might take my ear plugs as I'll definitely be in for a bit of stick. Ian will get it as well.

"I'd rather be playing. It's easier playing than just being stood there. They can shout what they want at you, but if I respond they'll report me and get me done so there's no way I'll be doing that.

"But as a player you stick the ball in the back of the net and then you milk it. That will be the inspiration that Ian will be looking for."
