Bayer Leverkusen will play more than half next season's home games at Dusseldorf's LTU-Arena.
With the BayArena in Leverkusen set to undergo expansion works at the turn of the year, the Bundesliga side will travel 15 miles north to play the remainder of their 2008-09 season home games in Dusseldorf.
Work on the BayArena will increase it's capacity from just over 22,000 to around 30,000 and should be ready for the 2009-10 season.
"We will begin working on the new roofs within schedule at the end of this year," explained Bayer general manager Wolfgang Holzhauser.
"During this work, we would not be able to guarantee the safety of visitors and delaying the work would affect the overall cost, so we have decided to stage our games in Dusseldorf.
"Only after the stadium is complete will we stage an opening event in July 2009 and return to the BayArena."
In the meantime, more fans will be able to watch Bayer play - LTU-Arena has a capacity of 51,500.
